We are looking for an experienced Finance Controller with a focus on cash flow management, budgeting, and financial planning to be based in our Singapore office and to lead Group control and reporting to 8×8 Inc. which is the parent company in the US. This is a team role which will also include supporting Wavecell’s international offices. You will report directly to the Singapore based regional VP of Finance /Senior Finance Leader and to the Head of Accounting of 8×8 Inc.

You will have a Singapore based Finance Manager for Group Accounting reporting to you. This is a high responsibility role in a fast-paced and innovative technology company that will require a team player comfortable with working in an international environment.

Job Description:

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining control over the flow of the Company’s financial assets on a day to day basis. You are to help the Chief Financial Officer oversee the Company’s financial needs including setting up, improving, monitoring and reporting on financial policies and processes. You are also the Company’s financial enforcer to safeguard and ensure that company budgets are appropriately allocated. This is an operational role that requires a solid understanding of the financial impact of dealing with customers and suppliers on a group level as well as ensuring coordination with internal teams for timely and quality financial reporting is smooth.

Main Responsibilities:

Controlling:

  • Supervise transaction processing operations and maintain and improve upon the system of controls and processes overall group transactions on a day-to-day basis
  • Implement and execute approvals for disbursements and payments from bank
  • Monitor AR and AP aging and control over the group’s working capital with the help of Finance
  • Manager and the accounting team
  • Maintain and extend bank relationships as per the company’s needs
  • Implement initiatives such as invoice financing or credit lines to optimize cash flow further
  • Be the go-to person for commercial needs on payment terms
  • Assist the VP of Finance in developing budgets and financial plans for the company
  • Assist the VP of Finance in administering sales incentive plans
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities
  • Be a trustful aide to the VP of Finance in administering the budget and cash related matters

Reporting:

  • Consolidate and report financial statements from Group entities
  • Report metrics on cash, AR/AP aging and working capital to the executive management team
  • Track and create reports on budget variances
  • Create reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Report to the VP of Finance with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the VP of Finance in preparing reports for senior executives, stakeholders, and board members
  • Compute quarterly sales commissions based on financial figures
  • Implement and report on business intelligence from various internal and external sources

Compliance:

  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations for financial reporting
  • Comply with all tax filings and reporting requirements in collaboration with the Regional Tax Manager
  • Implement any Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) for the finance team as required
  • Assist the VP of Finance in M&A activities on the financial and compliance front

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Ideally between 8-10 years of Finance work experience with last 3-5 years in a group
  • controlling capacity is preferred
  • Prior experience in managing cash, working capital, bank relationships, and proper payment & approval processes in an international organization is essential
  • Experience across ASEAN countries while consolidating and reporting to Singapore and/or US headquarters will be an advantage
  • Experience with Singapore FRS and US GAAP accounting standards is preferred
  • Experience in handling multiple currencies
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping, accounting principles, audit, and tax is particularly is essential
  • A strong team-player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills – be able to work closely with a Finance Manager and their team in charge of accounting work
  • High attention to detail
  • Be comfortable in a start-up environment

Qualifications:

  • Diploma / Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
  • Written and verbal fluency in English is required
